• Operate heavy, motorized equipment used in utility construction, including, but not limited to, trenchers, Boring equipment, backhoe, mini excavator, small and large plows etc. and other equipment to support a variety of operations for utility construction.
• May be required to trench around and near existing utilities without damaging said utilities.
• May dig trench lines and pits for setting manholes and handholes.
• Gather and load dirt and waste products from job sites onto trucks. Transport to appropriate location.
• Maintain accurate and legible logs and records for as-built plans to be turned in for final drafting.
• Ensure adherence to company safety requirements and procedures.
• Ensure preventive maintenance on equipment is being performed as required including fluid and filter changes and parts lubrication.
• Takes direction directly from the Site Manager
• Accurately record daily hours and production to be reported to the Site Manager.

Job Requirements:

• Perform a variety of skilled construction and maintenance tasks.
• Proficiently read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications and technical manuals.
• Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods in unfavorable weather conditions.
• Work independently both in the absence of supervision or as a part of a crew.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Prepare written reports and/or forms.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing or via radio.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• 2-5+ years of experience or a satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Must have a current, valid driver's license and be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance if needed.
• Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, walk, lift overhead, work at heights, walk/work in rough terrain in order to access equipment, tools, materials, and jobsite in order to complete work. Must be able to lift 70 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity are necessary.
• Hiring is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Previous underground utility experience a plus
• Must have experience in operating a backhoe and/or plow and digging around utilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Heavy equipment operator experience and any applicable licensure.
• OQ Certification preferred.
• DOT Certified Flagger training.
• CDL Class A license.(Preferred)
